Debra Meibaum is a senior technical assistance consultant at AIR. Meibaum has 35 years of experience in providing professional development and technical assistance to intermediate, state, and local educators on multiple educational topics, including school improvement, best practices for instruction, educator evaluation, Response to Intervention, English language learners, parental involvement, peer coaching, team building, needs assessment, and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
In her current position with the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC), Meibaum oversees the planning and delivery of technical assistance and professional development in Mississippi, and assists in providing these same services to other states served by the SECC. Meibaum serves as the SECC state liaison with the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE). In this role, Meibaum meets with key MDE staff monthly to assess their needs and align planning and delivery of TA to state priorities and initiatives.
Previously, Meibaum worked at the Mississippi Department of Education for 13 years. She also worked in the Mississippi and Louisiana public school systems at the school and district levels. Meibaum is certified in Mississippi as an elementary administrator and special subject supervisor.
