Chris Times, M.B.A., P.M.P., is a project management lead and senior communications specialist at American Institutes for Research (AIR). Times is a certified Project Management Professional with more than 25 years of extensive experience in project management and performance management. She also is an ATD Master Trainer, a globally recognized designation of excellence in developing innovative training solutions and implementing learner-centered strategies and methods to achieve learning objectives. At AIR, Times has led project management activities for multiple federally funded centers and contracts, including the Southeast Comprehensive Center, Midwest Comprehensive Center, Texas Comprehensive Center, Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast, and the College and Career Readiness and Success Center. Past and current project management work with these four Centers includes ensuring that project teams fulfilled requirements and expectations of the U.S. Department of Education, such as developing and managing project timelines, budgets, reporting, and quality assurance requirements.
Through her comprehensive center work, Times has coordinated project management for 14 regional events with participation of more than 1,050 educators and leaders in states served by AIR. Event topics related to federal priorities include English language learners, equitable education systems, work-based learning systems, early learning and leadership, and teacher evaluation systems. She has implemented project management processes for developing, tracking, and submitting high-quality deliverables for more than 15 technical assistance projects a year, which includes customized templates, databases, and scheduling tools. She coordinates regular meetings with project leads and center leadership to ensure that projects are being implemented in accordance with the work plans and that the appropriate data is being collected and reported. Times also serves as a team member on the AIR Learning and Development Project Management Implementation Team where she designs and facilitates professional development on project management processes, best practices, tools, and resources to improve the human capacity and performance of new or emerging project managers.
In addition to certification as a Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute, and her M.B.A., she has a bachelor of science degree in marketing. Times also serves on the leadership team of the Project Management Institute of Greater New Orleans Chapter, which supports over 460 project managers, program managers, portfolio managers, and other project management professionals in the metro area.
