The Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) hosted the Equity Summit–Accountable Leadership: Opportunities for Equitable Systems on November 29–30, 2018, in Jackson, Mississippi. The event followed several pre-summit activities: Civil Rights Learning Journey, visit to Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and Museum of Mississippi History, historic tour of Jackson State University, and a tour of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians community. During the summit, participants examined the conditions, practices, and policies within their states and local contexts that call for attention to equity as a moral imperative.

As part of the pre-summit activities for the Southeast Comprehensive Center’s Equity Summit–Accountable Leadership: Opportunities for Equitable Systems (November 29–30, 2018, in Jackson, Mississippi), state champions and other participants took part in the Civil Rights Learning Journey (from Jackson, Mississippi, to Birmingham, Alabama) November 25–28.
