South Carolina Personalized Learning

The Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) will provide a database containing personalized learning (PL) resources, training, and technical assistance (TA) for using the database. The goals of this project are to assist VirtualSC in supporting teachers in the areas of learner profiles, student ownership, learning pathways, and flexible learning environments.

Equity Dialogues: Increasing Opportunities to Improve Outcomes for Students

As states implement their Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plans, the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) is focusing on building the knowledge and skills of agency staff to support implementation of equity strategies by local education agencies (LEAs). The SECC is providing technical assistance, facilitation, and training to support this process in the area of equitable access.

South Carolina Low-Performing Schools

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE), with support from the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC), has developed a school improvement framework, which is under review by SCDE senior-level administration. The SECC is continuing to provide support by assisting the SCDE in the development of an evaluation of the Transformation Coach Program in the state.

South Carolina Internal Systems

SECC staff will support South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) staff with reestablishing a statewide longitudinal data system (SLDS) under its new re-organization and leadership. There is a need to identify data governance procedures for various departments within the state education agency (SEA). This project aims to provide support with developing and implementing a holistic approach to managing and disseminating data among departments within the agency and external entities.

North Carolina Student Success and Sustainability Project

The Southeast Comprehensive Center is providing technical assistance (TA) to North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) staff to refine the regional support model, including designing meetings of academic division leaders and creating communication protocols and professional development tools. SECC experts also will share research on education-based case management systems and data-based decision-making to inform district supports provided by NCDPI. 

North Carolina Instructional Improvement Systems

The Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) is working with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) staff to strengthen the Global Ready program through revised district and school renewal procedures and support for educators pursuing certification, as informed by qualitative data collection and analysis. The SECC staff also will strengthen personalized learning practices through trainings and resources delivered to NCDPI staff to promote consistent implementation statewide.

Mississippi Talent Management

To address the needs for talent management, the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) is providing evidence-based resources and professional learning materials to inform district- and state-developed plans to increase teacher recruitment and retention. For the Talent for Turnaround Leadership Academy (T4TLA), SECC is delivering professional learning on key topics related to recruiting, developing, and maintaining high-quality teachers.

Mississippi School Improvement

To address the need for support with the implementation of the state’s new theoretical model of support for low-performing schools (LPS), the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) is providing evidence-based resources and materials to enhance the implementation of the new system of support at the state and local education agency levels.

Mississippi Educator Quality

To address the need for increased training and support on culturally and linguistically responsive teaching and learning (CLRTL), the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) is providing evidence-based resources for Grades preK–12. The SECC also is providing ongoing meeting facilitation to co-develop professional learning modules and provide meeting facilitation on CLRTL practices as well as assisting the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) with identifying indicators of ineffective teachers.
